Description

As an Embedded System Validation Engineer at Polaris Inc., you will play a crucial role in the automated validation of embedded controls software. This involves developing and executing tests, analyzing test results, designing necessary harnesses and vehicle loads for the Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) system, and simulating vehicle components. Your responsibilities also include diagnosing and troubleshooting software, hardware, and harness issues on the HIL system.

Responsibilities

  1. Collaborate with controller leads to plan test script development and software validation schedules.
  2. Manage multiple Electronic Control Unit (ECU) validation schedules and projects simultaneously.
  3. Review and understand ECU software requirements and vehicle system functionality.
  4. Design test cases and develop scripts for automated software validation on the HIL system.
  5. Setup, execute, and analyze results of automated test scripts, reporting findings to stakeholders.
  6. Design harnesses and loads banks for the HIL system to simulate a vehicle based on wire schematics and components.

Skills

  1. B.S. or higher in Engineering (Electrical, Computer, or Software Engineering preferred) or related field.
  2. Understanding of engine, powertrain, chassis, body, and suspension control systems.
  3. Experience with automated test development and object-oriented programming.
  4. Knowledge of vehicle communication protocols (CAN/J1939/UDS), real-time HIL test system hardware and software.
  5. Experience with Git version control system.
  6. Familiarity with MATLAB/Simulink.
  7. Ability to troubleshoot test hardware and wire harnesses using scopes and multimeters.

Desired Skills

  1. Strong Python programming and debugging skills.
  2. Experience with dSPACE and/or NI hardware and software systems.
  3. Knowledge of OBD2 (J1979; ASAM MCD3-D; ASAM ODX).
  4. Proficiency in Git and Bash.
  5. Real-time modeling experience.
  6. Familiarity with ASAM XIL v2+.
  7. Experience with ECU measurement and calibration (CCP/XCP; ASAM MCD3-MC).
  8. Experience with lifecycle management software (PTC Integrity/Windchill PLM preferred).

Additionally Skills

  1. Develop additional software tools to support test automation.
  2. Create real-time plant models for closed-loop testing.
  3. Participate in Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment (HARA)/Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) discussions.
  4. Contribute to the design of new HIL systems or upgrades.
  5. Provide input to software improvements and design.
  6. Perform other duties as required.
